Mortadella & Burrata Panini
Thick-cut mortadella, a ball of burrata torn over the top, pistachio pesto, crushed Bronte pistachios, on a pressed ciabatta.

Isabella sits on the ground floor of a small boutique hotel in Gżira, close to the marina and the Ta' Xbiex waterfront. We open early for the people heading to work, stay open late for the ones winding down, and pull the kind of espresso that's worth crossing town for.
What we're proud of
The menu's long, the kitchen's small, but a few things have become regulars' regulars. Start here if it's your first visit.

€7.99
Norwegian smoked salmon, ripe avocado, cream cheese, a tangle of rocket on a New-York-style bagel. Done in under five minutes.
€8.49
A laminated croissant split and stuffed with pistachio cream, topped with crushed pistachio and a flash of icing sugar.
€3.30A note from the owners
Isabella Suites opened with seventeen rooms upstairs and a problem downstairs: nowhere good to drink a coffee. So we built the café we wanted to walk into on a Tuesday morning. Beans from a roaster we actually like, and a pastry case we don't have to apologise for.
By lunchtime the bagels and panini come out. By five the lights drop, the Aperols come up, and the room shifts into an aperitivo bar — burrata, mortadella, a glass of Pinot Grigio, the works.
We're not trying to be the loudest café in Malta. We'd rather be your favourite one.

The espresso machine is on by quarter to seven. Croissants are warm by quarter past.
Panini pressed to order, bagels, ftira, pastizzi straight from the oven, salads on the side.
Lights drop. Aperols come up. A board of Maltese cheese, salumi, olives — perfect for two.
